The rooms may be small, but they have all the basic facilities you need. The bathrooms are clean and tidy. The former hospital is mind-blowingly clean and spacious with high ceilings and wide halls. The solariums are full of light and the kitchen is super well-equipped with pots and pans galore. The showers are great and the gardens are jaw-droppingly beautiful. It's just a few minutes walk from the heart of without any highway noise. The staff, especially Jan, are incredibly friendly and supportive. Parking is a breeze with plenty of room. The kitchen has plenty of space and the dining room is warm and inviting. it's a super place to stay with unbeatable value for money.

I had a fantastic stay at this quirky lodge that used to be an old hospital. the hosts were friendly and helpful, and the building had a cool atmosphere. the lodge had a nice-sized dining room and a BBQ area, and it was even fun to see chickens scratching about in the flowerbeds. They provided great local information about tide times for visiting Cathedral Caves, which saved us from a wasted journey.
It was everything and more that we had hoped for. Cons: Nothing I didn't like to be fair.

I recently stayed at a wonderful lodge in the Catlins. Thomas'S Catlins Lodge And Camp Ground exceeded all my expectations. The suite we stayed in was spacious and had its own kitchen and bathroom. The view from our room was simply breathtaking. The atmosphere of the lodge was cozy and homely, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. They were always willing to accommodate our needs and make any necessary changes. The best part? We were treated to warm, free-range eggs for breakfast. It was truly a memorable stay.
All was perfect! 👌

Off-street parking and bicycle storage: Thomas'S Lodge had plenty of space for my car and even offered secure parking for bicycles. I felt reassured knowing my vehicle was safe and sound, just like a shell protecting a hermit crab. On-site facilities: The lodge had a wonderful dining room where I enjoyed delicious meals. The shared kitchen, equipped with modern appliances, reminded me of a kitchen straight out of a professional cooking show. It was a culinary playground! Awesome games room: The games room at Thomas'S Lodge was massive, filled with a full-sized pool table, darts, and even a piano. It was like stepping into a magical world where I could unleash my inner pool shark, dart aficionado, and budding pianist.
Lack of history display: It would have been great to have a history cabinet showcasing the fascinating artifacts from the lodge's past. A little glimpse into the building's rich history would have added a touch of intrigue and made the experience even more memorable.

The room I stayed in had a cozy seating area, perfect for unwinding after a busy day. I loved that the room had its own private bathroom with a shower and toilet. The lodge also provided access to a shared kitchen, which was convenient for preparing meals. The carpeted room I stayed in was conveniently located next door to the ladies bathrooms and a spacious games room. Some units at the lodge even have balconies, offering a nice spot to enjoy the views.
Personally, I would have preferred a room with a private balcony.

The location of this lodge is perfect, situated off the main road and surrounded by beautiful lawn and nature in the Catlins. The lodge offers comfortable and tidy rooms, with a well-stocked and clean kitchen for guests to use. The breakfast, at a very affordable price, is delicious, especially when enjoyed in the brightly lit dining room.
Some guests have been inconsiderate, vandalizing facilities and monopolizing the sinks in the kitchen.

Loved exploring the dense rainforests and stunning coastal scenery nearby. Enjoyed playing billiards and darts in the large games room. The converted hospital building was full of oddities and had a cozy fireplace.
Oh, and let's not forget the delightful experience of sharing the small TV lounge! So spacious and peaceful.

I absolutely loved the charming decoration of the old hospital that has been converted into a lodge. The wooden floors and corridors gave it a nostalgic feel. The general areas were always clean and tidy, and it was easy for me to navigate as a senior person. The staff were like my own children, always ready to help and answer any questions I had. It made me feel comfortable and cared for during my stay.
It would have been even better if there were more activities or amenities specifically tailored for senior people.

I absolutely loved the charming decor of the hotel. The old-fashioned furniture and vintage artwork created a cozy and nostalgic atmosphere that reminded me of my younger days. The hotel's general areas were also well-maintained and clean, making it a comfortable place to relax and socialize with other guests. As a senior woman, I appreciated the accessibility of the hotel. The hallways were wide enough to accommodate my walking aid, and there were plenty of seating areas throughout the hotel for me to rest and take in the surroundings.
One thing I would have liked to see for a better vacation for senior people is more attentive and considerate staff. It would have been lovely to have some assistance with carrying my luggage or guidance on nearby attractions suitable for seniors.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming lodge in the Catlins area. The warm and cozy atmosphere of the room made my stay very comfortable, especially on those chilly nights. The location was perfect for exploring the beautiful scenery of the Catlins. Upon check-in, I was greeted by friendly staff who provided me with a wealth of information about the area, ensuring that I had an enjoyable stay. The showers were a treat, offering nice hot water with good pressure. my experience at this lodge was wonderful and I would definitely recommend it to others.
One minor drawback was the limited range of WiFi coverage within the lodge. However, this did not hinder my overall enjoyment of the stay.

We had an amazing stay at this lodge in the Catlins! The value for money was fantastic, with super fresh and clean bed linens and complimentary coffee. The location was perfect, close to everything we wanted to see and do in the area. The staff treated us with genuine friendliness and helpfulness throughout our stay.
The only thing that could have made breakfast even better was more variety in the morning options. A little more choice would have been nice for the start of the day.
